On November 5th, 2025, the first workers' vocational skills competition of Handan Fastener Industry was held in Yongnian District, which is known as the "Fastener Capital of China". In this competition, Ren Tiantong, an employee of the fastener production workshop of Guozhi Technology (Hebei) Co., LTD., was the most outstanding contestant. With his superb fastener production skills, he overcame all obstacles in the rigorous selection process and eventually won the first place. According to Zhang Shangling, a model worker of Hebei Province, the president of the Fastener (Hardware) Specialized Committee of the China Workers' Technical Association, the executive vice secretary-general of the Hebei Fastener Industry Association, and the general manager of Guozhi Technology (Hebei) Co., LTD., the market share of fasteners in Yongnian District accounts for 59.2% of the national market and 29% of the global market. It is the largest production base and distribution center of fasteners in the country and is known as the "Fastener Capital of China". There are 340,000 people engaged in the fastener industry in this district, among whom 190,000 are locally involved in the production and manufacturing of fasteners. There are 16,376 production-oriented market entities and over 270 large-scale enterprises with an annual output value of more than 20 million yuan. Each year, 7.1 million tons of fasteners are produced to meet different customer demands, with an annual output value of over 50 billion yuan. It is the most distinctive and dynamic pillar industry in Yongnian District. With the increase in the share of the domestic and global markets, there are higher requirements for product quality, which demands that the skills and qualities of workers engaged in the fastener industry also improve accordingly. Zhang Shangling introduced that although the fastener industry association and enterprises also frequently hold small-scale on-the-job training and technical competitions, due to their small scale and the fact that most of the participants are employees from their own workshops or companies, they have not achieved the purpose of showcasing their skills and identifying the gaps. It is understood that after the promulgation of the "Regulations on Promoting Vocational Skills Competitions for Enterprise Employees in Hebei Province", the Trade Union of Handan City and the Trade Union of Yongnian District, in order to fully stimulate the enthusiasm of enterprises to carry out vocational skills competitions and for employees to participate in vocational skills competitions, and to cultivate and bring up more master craftsmen, skilled workers and highly skilled talents, for the first time included the fastener industry in the municipal vocational skills competition for employees. Its aim is to accelerate innovation in the fastener industry, deepen the integration of industry and education, continuously improve the skilled talent training system, break through the skill bottleneck in enterprise development, promote the construction of a growth channel for high-skilled talents, stimulate the innovative vitality of employees, and lay a solid foundation and provide technical support for the development of the fastener industry. This move has received strong support from the main leaders of the Yongnian District Committee and the District Government.
